Well there's no doubt about it, spring is definitely in the air. As the daylight hours start to increase that special time of the year kicks into gear with the onset of the breeding season starting once more for many of our birds, not only for our residents species but of course the many migrant species that head to our shores to spend the summer months to raise young.
And finally we've had some fairly settled weather which has given me the opportunity to catch up once more with those sentinels of the British uplands the majestic Short Eared Owl, who are now starting to arrive here in the Peak District for the purpose of raising families of they're own.
I must admit that I consider myself extremely fortunate to be able to observe and photograph these fabulous birds throughout the year and I will never tire of seeing them wherever they may be, be it down on the marshlands of my local estuary or one of the many reserves where they can be found throughout the winter months. However its here in the Peak District that is my favourite place to see them whilst sitting amongst the heather and simply watching being totally transfixed by their beauty against the backdrop of the stunning scenery.
On that note I'll leave it there but please do drop in from time to time, join me on my ramblings into the great British Countryside and see what I'm up to, I'm also looking to do more in depth blogs as well as these mini ones at a later date as I add further content to the site.
